About Xu Mengtao

Chinese aerial skier born 12 July 1990 in Anshan, Liaoning; married to fellow aerialist and 2026 Olympic men's aerials champion Wang Xindi. Widely regarded as the greatest aerialist in World Cup history: Wikipedia's most recent count credits her with 27 career World Cup victories, while more recent 2025-26 season reporting from FIS-affiliated outlets places her total nearer 35 - sources differ on the exact tally, but agree it is the most all-time in women's aerials. A five-time Olympian (2010-2026) whose long path to the top included a silver at Sochi 2014 and heartbreaking crashes at Vancouver 2010 and Pyeongchang 2018, before finally winning individual gold at the 2022 Beijing Olympics (108.61 points) - becoming the first Chinese woman to win Olympic aerials gold after five previous Chinese silvers in the event. Defended her Olympic title at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games (112.90 points) the same week her husband won the men's title, making them a rare married Olympic-champion couple in the same discipline; also won bronze in mixed team aerials at those Games. Won two golds and a silver at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Yabuli (individual and team gold, synchro silver) and silver in individual aerials at the 2025 World Championships in Engadin. Led the 2025-26 World Cup aerials standings with 420 points, clinching the season's Crystal Globe.

FIS competitorid=133211, FIS Code 2526230. FIS's raw status field shows an unusual 'Active — Not allowed' tag (same quirk previously seen on her husband Wang Xindi's FIS bio), treated as a site display quirk rather than meaningful status data given her extensive 2025-26 season results and 2026 Olympic gold. 2025-26 World Cup points total (420) independently verified by summing her season's individual cup-point entries in FIS's own results table. FIS official bio's Skis/Boots/Poles fields are all blank. Turned-pro year (2007) is an estimate based on the earliest World Cup standings entry in her Wikipedia infobox.
