About Tate Frantz
American ski jumper born and raised in Lake Placid, New York, the middle of three athletic brothers, who represents the New York Ski Ed Foundation. Originally trained in Nordic combined but switched to ski jumping exclusively after a persistent knee injury at age 16, then accelerated his development by moving to Norway for elite coaching and facilities. Made his World Cup debut in February 2023 at his home hill in Lake Placid and reached his first World Cup points at Ruka that same season. Selected for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics, where he placed 21st in the individual normal hill event.
Personal best: 231.5m (Planica, 30 Mar 2025). 2024 U.S. National Champion (small hill and large hill, Lake Placid). 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics: 21st normal hill individual, 19th large hill individual, 8th super team, 7th mixed team. Skis per FIS's official athlete database (Skis: BWT).
Ski jumping race ski produced and supplied by BWT (Best Water Technology), an Austrian water-treatment company that states on its own corporate site: 'BWT is the official ski jumping producer and thus supplier of selected top ski jumping athletes' - i.e. BWT is the equipment brand itself (not merely a sponsor logo on another maker's ski), comparable to how Red Bull's Van Deer/Augment operates its own ski brand.
