Austrian World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in giant slalom, from Zell am See, Salzburg, racing for USK Niedernsill. Made his World Cup debut in Oct 2012 and took 14 seasons to record his first win: at Copper Mountain on 28 Nov 2025, at age 34, in his 81st World Cup start, capitalizing on a Marco Odermatt crash to win by nearly a second - making him one of the oldest first-time male World Cup winners in history. Also an Olympic gold medalist from the mixed team parallel event at the 2022 Beijing Games (individual GS best there was a promising first run before a second-run mistake). Had his best-ever World Cup season in 2025-26, adding two more GS podiums (3rd Alta Badia, 3rd Kranjska Gora) to finish 4th in the season-long GS discipline standings; placed 8th in giant slalom at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics.

Career World Cup record: 1 win, 7 podiums, all giant slalom (Wikipedia, through 2025-26). 3 Olympic teams (2018, 2022, 2026), 1 gold (2022 mixed team parallel); 4 World Championships (2019-2025), no individual medals. Began skiing as a junior in Dec 2006.
