About Sonja Gigler
Austrian ski cross racer and former gymnast and alpine skier who switched to ski cross at the start of the 2021-22 season after limited success in alpine racing. Won the 2023 Junior World Championship title at Veysonnaz, but suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in a crash during the team event at the 2023 World Championships in Bakuriani, sidelining her for two years. Made an impressive comeback in December 2025, finishing the 2025-26 World Cup season 18th overall with 256 points and placing 17th at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics in Livigno. Grew up in Hard am Bodensee, races for SC Arlberg, and has been part of the Austrian Federal Police's elite sports program since May 2024.
2025-26 World Cup: 18th overall, 256 points (FIS official cup standings) - first full World Cup season back from a 2-year ACL/meniscus injury layoff. 2026 Olympics (Livigno): 17th place. 2023 Junior World Champion (Veysonnaz).
