About Sara Hector
Swedish World Cup alpine ski racer and giant slalom specialist, born 4 September 1992 in Sandviken; races for Kungsbergets AK. Made her World Cup debut in December 2009 at age 17 and won her first race - a giant slalom in Kuhtai, Austria - in December 2014. Nearly forced to quit the sport after a devastating knee injury, she worked her way back to become the 2022 Olympic champion in giant slalom at the Beijing Games (her first Olympic medal, and the first Swedish women's Olympic GS gold in 30 years). Continued her career at an elite level through the 2025-26 season, adding an Olympic silver in giant slalom at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games (where she was Sweden's flagbearer at the opening ceremony alongside Walter Wallberg) behind gold medalist Federica Brignone (existing entry id 202). Has competed at eight World Championships (2011-2025), winning four team-event medals (2011, 2015, 2021, 2025) but no individual World Championship medal to date.
FIS Code 506399. Eight World Cup wins, all in giant slalom, and 28 podiums (25 GS, 3 SL). Two Olympic medals: giant slalom gold at Beijing 2022 and silver at Milano-Cortina 2026, across four Olympic appearances from 2014 to 2026. Eight World Championship appearances from 2011 to 2025 with four team-event medals. Best World Cup overall finish: 4th, in 2024.
