About Sammy Smith
American cross-country skier (Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation) and dual-sport athlete who also plays college soccer for Stanford. Born in Boise, Idaho, she represented the US at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and won bronze in soccer at the 2023 Pan American Games before shifting focus toward Nordic skiing after a leg injury. Named to the US Cross Country Ski Team in 2022, made her World Cup skiing debut in Norway in March 2023, won silver in the freestyle sprint at the 2024 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships (the best-ever US result in the event), and was promoted to the US Ski A Team in 2024 at age 18.
Dual-sport status confirmed extensively (Stanford soccer forward/midfielder plus US Ski Team Nordic skier); her Wikipedia article is filed under the title 'Sammy Smith (soccer, born 2005)' despite covering both sports.
Sponsors: Salomon (skis, boots); Swix (poles) - per FIS's official athlete biography (manufacturer-updated equipment fields).
