Freeride Skiing

He holds 8 X Games medals (4 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze), including a three-peat of Real Ski Backcountry golds (2013-2015) and a 2011 Slopestyle gold. He explicitly stepped away from slopestyle competition after 2014 (skipping its Olympic debut) to focus on backcountry filming, telling media the next step for him as a skier was 'going out into the backcountry.' He's filmed extensively with Teton Gravity Research (including 'The Sammy C Project,' which won Best Male Performance, Best Powder, and Best Air at the Powder Awards) and co-founded the short-film project 'Over Time' (and later 'Resilience') with Nelson, BC-based CK9 Studios (founded by Simon Shave and Clay Mitchell), after the idea grew out of a shoot together at Retallack. Equipment: signed with Armada in January 2016; rides his own signature pro model, the Armada Whitewalker (116mm original, plus a newer 108mm version for 2026), featuring Armada's Swivel Tech 3D base construction. Also sponsored by Le Bent (baselayers/socks).
