Smoothy, born and raised in Wanaka, New Zealand (his father an ex-World Cup mogul skier), appears in MSP's 2025 film 'After the Snowfall,' skiing steep fluted spines and ice outcroppings in Alaska alongside Sam Cohen, Ben Richards, and Xander Guldman. His filmography also spans Teton Gravity Research, Sherpas Cinema, and Legs of Steel. Before his film career took off, he competed on the Freeride World Tour, entering in 2012 as an injury-replacement wildcard, winning in Chamonix and taking two more podiums that season, then winning the 2015 Andorra stop -- the results that catapulted him into the ski-movie spotlight. Beyond skiing, he's an accomplished ski mountaineer in his home range, having summited and skied six 3,000m New Zealand peaks (including Malaspina, Mount Graham, Mount Sefton, Mount Hamilton, and Malte Brun) and notching the second-ever descent of Elie de Beaumont alongside his mother, Ellen.
