About Sam Alphand
French World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in downhill and super-G, racing for Club de Ski de Serre Chevalier. Son of 1997 World Cup overall champion Luc Alphand, and younger brother of World Cup speed skier Nils Alphand and Swedish World Championship medalist Estelle Alphand. Joined France's B team for the 2019-20 season and made his World Cup debut in the Wengen alpine combined in January 2020. Scored his first World Cup points with 23rd in the Kvitfjell downhill on 4 March 2022, and posted his best World Cup result with 16th in the Kitzbuehel super-G on 23 January 2026. Won his first French national title in the downhill at Tignes in April 2026, 29 years after his father's last downhill title in the discipline.
Not to be confused with brother Nils Alphand or father Luc Alphand (per equipe-france.fr). FIS 2026/27 1st points list: DH 63rd, SG 45th, GS 3559th, SL 5672nd, AC 468th - confirms he is a speed (DH/SG) specialist despite holding nominal FIS points in all disciplines.
