About Ryoyu Kobayashi
Japanese ski jumper from Hachimantai, Iwate Prefecture, now based in Sapporo, who began ski jumping in first grade inspired by his older brother and fellow World Cup jumper Junshiro Kobayashi (two more siblings, Yuka and Tatsunao, also jump). Made his World Cup debut in the 2015-16 season and had a breakout 2018-19 campaign, winning 13 individual events and sweeping all six major titles available that season - the World Cup overall, Ski Flying World Cup, Four Hills Tournament, Raw Air, Planica7 and Willingen Five. Became the third ski jumper in history to complete the Four Hills Tournament Grand Slam, in 2021-22, and days later won individual normal hill gold (plus large hill silver) at the 2022 Beijing Olympics - the third Japanese athlete ever to win an individual Olympic ski jumping gold. Holds Japan's national jumping record (252m) and posted an unofficial, FIS-uncounted 291m jump near Akureyri, Iceland in April 2024. Left his longtime Tsuchiya Home Ski Team after the 2022-23 season to found his own club, Team ROY. At the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics he placed 8th individual normal hill, 6th individual large hill, and helped Japan to bronze in the Team Normal Hill event (6th in the Super Team large hill).
2025-26 World Cup: 2nd overall, 1,194 points (FIS official cup standings). Career: 35 World Cup individual wins, 2x World Cup overall champion (2018-19, and earlier), 3x Four Hills Tournament winner, Four Hills Grand Slam (2021-22). 2022 Beijing Olympics: individual normal hill gold, large hill silver. 2026 Olympics (Milano Cortina): 8th individual normal hill, 6th individual large hill, bronze in Team Normal Hill (with Japan), 6th Super Team large hill.

Skis per FIS's official athlete database (Skis: BWT), corroborated by BWT's own 'BWT in winter sports' athlete roster page.
Ski jumping race ski produced and supplied by BWT (Best Water Technology), an Austrian water-treatment company that states on its own corporate site: 'BWT is the official ski jumping producer and thus supplier of selected top ski jumping athletes' - i.e. BWT is the equipment brand itself (not merely a sponsor logo on another maker's ski), comparable to how Red Bull's Van Deer/Augment operates its own ski brand.
