About Roman Rees
German biathlete (SV Schauinsland) from Freiburg im Breisgau, on the World Cup since 2016 with a career highlight of relay silver at the 2019 World Championships in Östersund. On 26 November 2023 he won his first individual World Cup victory (20km individual) at Östersund, becoming the first German World Cup leader since Michael Greis in 2008. Competed at the 2022 Beijing Olympics (best result 4th, relay). Like teammate Johannes Kühn, missed the German squad's 2025-26 World Cup season openers but was named to Germany's roster for the 2026 European Championships in Sjusjøen.
Missed the 2025-26 World Cup season openers (Östersund, Kontiolahti) per German press coverage but was named to the EM 2026 roster. Note: his dormant FIS cross-country athlete-biography profile (competitorid=154234, status: Active but stale military-race results) lists no equipment fields either.
