About Qi Guangpu

Chinese aerial skier (齐广璞) from Xuzhou, a five-time Olympian (2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026) widely regarded as one of the greatest aerialists in the sport's history. Made his FIS World Cup debut in 2006 and competed in 87 World Cup events over a 20-year career, winning 23 times with 46 podiums (among the top three men in history for World Cup aerials wins) and four career Crystal Globes, most recently the 2024-25 season title. At the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships he made seven appearances and won four medals, including two golds (2013 Voss, 2015 Kreischberg, successfully defending his 2013 title) and two silvers (2011 Deer Valley, 2017 Almaty). After three medal-less Olympics (4th at Sochi 2014 his best finish), won long-awaited gold on home snow at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, landing a quintuple-twisting triple backflip for 129 points to beat defending champion Oleksandr Abramenko (116.5); also won silver in the mixed team event at those Games. His fifth and final Olympics came at Milano Cortina 2026, finishing 6th in individual aerials; FIS's own retirement tribute (published 14 April 2026) formally closed out his 'extraordinary' two-decade career, often calling him the 'GOAT' of aerial skiing.

RETIRED: per FIS's own dedicated career-retrospective/retirement article, his final competitive appearance was at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics. FIS competitorid=133210. FIS's raw status field showed an unusual 'Active — Not allowed' tag at the time of checking, which appears to be a site display quirk rather than meaningful status data; the FIS retirement article is treated as authoritative for his retired status. FIS official bio's Skis/Boots/Poles fields are all blank.
