Freeride Skiing

French freeride skier from Morzine-Avoriaz. A French national moguls champion by age 12 and Vice-French Freestyle (slopestyle) Champion at 15, his early career was repeatedly interrupted by injury: he tore his ACL at 13, tore the other ACL at 16 (ending his freestyle career), then was hospitalized for six weeks with a serious illness at 19 shortly after switching to freeride. He debuted on the FWT in 2023, took 2nd at the 2024 Kicking Horse Golden BC Pro, and delivered a first-rider, two-backflip run to finish 4th at the 2024 Xtreme Verbier.

A dedicated search on his 2024 Xtreme Verbier result independently corroborates the 4th place, describing him dropping in as first rider and throwing two backflips off sizable cliffs on the Bec des Rosses. His path to the Tour involved two separate ACL tears as a youth freestyle skier (moguls national champion at 12, freestyle vice-champion at 15) and a serious illness requiring six weeks of hospitalization at 19, shortly after switching to freeride - a much more dramatic backstory than 'strong rider' suggests. Equipment confirmed via Rossignol's own product page: Mandin has his own limited-edition signature ski, the Sender Free 110 Open - Oscar Mandin Limited Edition, part of the same signature line as Marcus Goguen's but a distinct personal graphic edition.
