About Mischa Thomas

New Zealand freeskier born March 19, 2008 in Auckland, competing in halfpipe, slopestyle and big air; a triplet with four siblings, she started skiing at age three at Mt Ruapehu. Won bronze in slopestyle at the 2023 FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships at Cardrona and represented New Zealand at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games. In 2025 she won gold in the halfpipe European Cup at Corvatsch, Switzerland and in the slopestyle Europa Cup Premium at Laax. Placed 9th in halfpipe at the 2025 FIS World Championships in Engadin. During the 2025-26 season she notched a 5th-place finish in Aspen and her first World Cup podium (2nd, Silvaplana). Named to New Zealand's 2026 Winter Olympics team and qualified 10th (later reported 8th in the final standings) for the halfpipe final at Milano Cortina, advancing after a rival was stretchered off during qualifying. Cites Canadian freeskier Olivia Asselin as her biggest inspiration.

Born in March 2008, she was 17 during the February 2026 Olympics. Finished 5th at Aspen and 2nd at Silvaplana in the 2025-26 halfpipe World Cup season.
