About McKenna Peterson
American professional big-mountain skier from Sun Valley, Idaho, and a K2 factory team athlete. Also captains her family's 58-foot commercial salmon fishing boat, the FV Atlantis, in southeast Alaska each summer alongside her sister Dylan. A former competitive alpine ski racer and Freeskiing World Tour competitor turned Warren Miller Entertainment film athlete.
Her actual, well-documented film affiliation is Warren Miller Entertainment (Chasing Shadows 2015, Line of Descent 2017, Daymaker 2022), confirmed via her own official Warren Miller athlete page. She is also not 'Alaska-based': her own Warren Miller page, KAVU feature, and Ski Journal interview all list Sun Valley, Idaho as her hometown, home mountain, and current/year-round base; she spends only the summer months (roughly June-September) in southeast Alaska captaining her family's 58' commercial salmon seiner, the FV Atlantis, alongside her sister and best friend Dylan (also a pro skier/fisherman) and brother Axel -- fishing pays for her own university education (a human physiology degree, completed over 8 years around ski seasons) and, before her ski career took off, her living expenses. She competed on the Freeskiing World Tour for 7 years before being brought onto the K2 factory team by Mike Hattrup and Alyssa Clark, transitioning into a media-focused ski career. As of her most recent (2024) KAVU feature she was recovering from a ruptured ACL and two surgeries. Sponsored by K2 (skis), Scott Sports, Xtratuf, KAVU, and Ridge Merino per her own Powder Magazine interview.
Sponsors: K2 (skis, factory team); Scott Sports; Xtratuf; KAVU; Ridge Merino; Warren Miller Entertainment athlete (film).
