About Mathys Fornasier
French freeride skier from Grenoble, raised on the slopes of Chamrousse after seven years of competitive alpine ski racing. Switched to freeride after a chance meeting with rider Mickael Bimboes, breaking through with a win at the 2024 FWT Challenger in Avoriaz and a 4th-place overall Challenger finish to qualify for the 2025 Freeride World Tour as a rookie. After a rough rookie Pro Tour season, he returned to the FWT Challenger circuit for 2026 to work back toward the Pro Tour.
Fornasier is a Grenoble native who raced alpine skiing competitively for seven years before switching to freeride, broke through with a win at the 2024 FWT Challenger stop in Avoriaz and a 4th-overall Challenger finish that earned him a rookie 2025 Pro Tour season. Equipment: rides for Down (French freeride ski brand) under a close, two-year athlete-development partnership - per his own account he tests prototypes and gives direct feedback on flex, edge grip, weight distribution, and landing behavior, meaning his ski is a personalized proto with no public model name. Also sponsored by Rehall (Dutch apparel brand, one-piece suits) and by his home resort Chamrousse; no boot or binding sponsor found.
