About Marit Øygard

Norwegian biathlete, born 10 June 1999, who won mixed relay gold at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in her home town of Lillehammer and later took national mixed relay gold with brother Harald Øygard and teammate Vebjørn Sørum (also in this database) in 2022. Declined a national team spot in 2023 to study medicine full-time in Trondheim, effectively stepping away from the sport, before an unexpected comeback: a strong result at Geilo in November 2024 earned her a surprise ticket to the Östersund World Cup, and she made her official World Cup debut that season.

Her competitive status is also unusual - she stepped away from the national team in 2023 for medical school and only returned to competition via a surprise fall-2024 result, so her current training/equipment setup may not be fully established in public sources yet.
