About Lucy Sackbauer
American professional big-mountain skier and Matchstick Productions athlete, originally from Vail, Colorado, now based in Ketchum, Idaho (Sun Valley area). Leads a dual career as a frontline emergency room nurse alongside skiing.
Sackbauer has appeared in multiple Matchstick Productions films: 'Huck Yeah!' (2020, her first major ski film appearance), 'The Stomping Grounds' (2021/2022, athlete short showing off her home mountains in Idaho), and 'Anywhere From Here' (2022). A Vail, Colorado native based in Ketchum, Idaho, she leads a notable dual career the flat claim doesn't capture: she's also a frontline emergency room nurse. Per the Low Pressure Podcast, she decided at age 12, after seeing her first Warren Miller film, that she wanted a ski career -- and around the same time, started watching Grey's Anatomy and decided she wanted to be a nurse too. She pursued both, and when COVID-19 shut down skiing during her breakout MSP season (right after filming Huck Yeah), she pivoted into full-time ER nursing on the pandemic's front lines.
