About Lara Gut-Behrami
Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer who competes in all disciplines and specializes in the speed events of downhill and Super-G, born 27 April 1991 in Sorengo, Ticino (nee Gut); married Swiss footballer Valon Behrami in July 2018 and has raced under the double-barrelled name since. Made her World Cup debut in December 2007 at age 16 and her first World Cup win at 17. With 48 career World Cup wins (24 SG, 13 DH, 10 GS, 1 AC) across 101 podiums, she is one of the all-time greats of alpine skiing and the first woman with at least ten World Cup wins in three different disciplines. Won Olympic super-G gold at the 2022 Beijing Games (plus downhill bronze in 2014), and is a two-time overall World Cup champion (2016, 2024) with a record six Super-G discipline globes plus one GS globe. At the 2021 World Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo she won two golds (super-G and a razor-thin giant slalom victory over Mikaela Shiffrin by 0.02 seconds), and added a team combined silver (paired with Wendy Holdener) at the 2025 Saalbach-Hinterglemm Worlds - her 9th career World Championship medal (2 gold) across 9 appearances. Announced her retirement in June 2025, effective after the 2025-26 season, but an early season knee injury sustained in training has kept her out for essentially the entire final campaign.
FIS Code 516138. She announced retirement (effective after 2025-26) in June 2025, then suffered a training knee injury shortly into the season; her FIS bio lists her status as 'Active (injured, 25-10-2025)' with only a single 2025-26 race result on record (a 38th-place giant slalom at the Solden season-opener, 25 October 2025) - zero wins this season. Used the verified injury/inactive status rather than the hint. 'World Championship medalist' is confirmed and understated - she holds 9 World Championship medals (2 gold) across 9 appearances (2009-2025). Career: 48 World Cup wins, 101 podiums, 3 Olympic medals (1 gold) across 3 appearances (2014, 2018, 2022), 9 career discipline/overall titles (2 Overall, 6 Super-G, 1 Giant Slalom).
