About Karl Fostvedt
American big-mountain and technical freeskier from Ketchum, Idaho, known as 'Crazy Karl.' Originally known for urban rail skiing (2012 iF3 Rookie of the Year, 2014 War of Rails winner), he transitioned into one of the sport's top big-mountain/backcountry skiers, winning the inaugural Kings and Queens of Corbet's Couloir competition in 2018, finishing 2nd in 2019, and winning again in 2021, the same year Idaho Mountain Express named him its 'Athlete of the Year.' In 2021 he founded his own production company, Native Earth Productions.
Fostvedt ('Crazy Karl'), from Ketchum, Idaho, filmed MSP's 'Return to Send'er' (Nov 2019) among numerous other film credits (D.O.S. Originally known for urban rail skiing (2012 iF3 Rookie of the Year, 2014 War of Rails winner), he transitioned into one of the best big-mountain/backcountry skiers around, winning the inaugural Kings and Queens of Corbet's Couloir competition in 2018, finishing 2nd in 2019, and winning again in 2021 -- the same year Idaho Mountain Express named him its 'Athlete of the Year.' In 2021 he also founded his own production company, Native Earth Productions, whose 'Brap Ski' series (now four volumes) combines snowmobiling and skiing to access remote backcountry terrain.
