About Jon Sallinen
Finnish halfpipe skier born in Helsinki. Competed at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, failing to advance out of qualifying (finished last, 23rd overall) after a widely-covered crash in which he collided with a cameraman during his qualifying run - he later apologized, saying 'I hope the camera guy is all good, sorry.' Missed the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics through injury. Returned to World Cup competition for the first time in two years at the March 2026 Silvaplana season finale, where he qualified 1st and finished 3rd in the final (85.25) - his second career World Cup podium after a win in Calgary the previous season.
Also attended Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) in the US per a Post Independent headline, an interesting biographical detail not otherwise covered.
