About Jakov Fak
Croatian-Slovenian biathlete (SD Pokljuka) from Rijeka, one of the sport's most accomplished veterans with a career spanning both nations: won Croatia's first-ever World Championship biathlon medal (individual bronze, 2009) and an Olympic sprint bronze for Croatia at the 2010 Vancouver Games, then switched citizenship to Slovenia later in 2010. Representing Slovenia, he won 2 more Olympic medals (silver, sprint, 2018 Pyeongchang) and 4 more World Championship medals, including gold in the individual at the 2012 Ruhpolding Championships - Slovenia's first-ever World Championship gold in the sport. Career total: 9 World Cup victories and 5 Olympic Games (2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026) spanning 16 years.
Fak is Croatian-born and represented Croatia (including as flag bearer at the 2010 Vancouver Games) before switching citizenship to Slovenia in late 2010; his Olympic/World Championship medal tallies are split across both national teams in the record above, per Wikipedia's own event-by-event breakdown.
