About Jakara Anthony
Australian freestyle skier and the most successful Winter Olympian in Australian history; born in Cairns, Queensland and raised largely at Mount Buller, Victoria (family later based in Barwon Heads), where her parents worked seasonally and she joined the resort's moguls program at 11. Made her World Cup debut in 2015 at 16. Finished 4th in moguls on her Olympic debut at 2018 PyeongChang. Won her maiden major medal (silver) at the 2019 World Championships in Deer Valley. Became Olympic moguls champion at the 2022 Beijing Games - Australia's sixth-ever Winter Olympic gold and its first since 2010 - landing the first cork 720 mute by a woman at an Olympics. Recorded the most successful World Cup season by any Australian winter athlete in 2023-24, winning a record 14 of 16 events and sweeping all three moguls Crystal Globes (overall, moguls, dual moguls); missed most of the 2024-25 season recovering from a broken collarbone suffered in training. Returned in December 2025 to eventually win her 26th career World Cup event (Waterville Valley, Jan 2026), passing aerialist Jacqui Cooper as Australia's all-time World Cup wins leader across any winter sport. Named Australia's female flag bearer for the 2026 Milano Cortina opening ceremony. At the Games, led moguls qualifying and the first half of the Super Final before a fall dropped her to 8th; rebounded four days later to win the inaugural Olympic women's dual moguls, defeating American Jaelin Kauf in the final - becoming the first Australian to win two Olympic gold medals. Studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at Deakin University; the Mount Buller moguls course was named in her honor in August 2025.
2x Olympic gold (2022 moguls; 2026 dual moguls - first Australian ever to win two Winter Olympic golds). 7 Crystal Globes. 26 career World Cup wins as of the 2025-26 season - Australia's all-time record across any winter sport, surpassing aerial skier Jacqui Cooper's 25. 2026 Olympics moguls: led qualifying (81.65) and led the Super Final's first half (83.96) before a crash dropped her to 8th place.
