About Hedvig Wessel
Norwegian freeride skier and FWT veteran who finished runner-up three years running (2020, 2021, 2022) before finally claiming her maiden FWT overall title in 2024, sealed with a win at the YETI Xtreme Verbier final. A 2x Olympian, she is a longtime HEAD athlete and has her own signature POC helmet/goggle collection inspired by the pink sunsets of Piggtind, Norway.
FWT's own bio explicitly frames 2024 as her 'maiden FWT title... after multiple runner-up finishes in the past,' and she finished runner-up in exactly 2020, 2021, and 2022 - three consecutive near-misses that, per her own remarks, nearly ended her competitive career before she committed to one more push with a dedicated team behind her and finally won in 2024, sealed with a 1st-place run at the YETI Xtreme Verbier final. HEAD sponsorship confirmed via HEAD's own athlete roster. Equipment: rides HEAD's Kore freeride ski series (also endorsed by fellow HEAD athletes J. Rollins; no single Wessel-specific width/model beyond the Kore line itself was found). Beyond skis, she also has her own signature helmet/goggle collection with POC (the 'Hedvig Wessel edition,' including the Nexal helmet and Devour Glacial goggle), inspired by the pink sunset tones of Piggtind, Norway.
