About Eirik Hystad Solberg
Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in slalom and giant slalom, racing for Skiforeningen Stavanger. World Cup debut on 21 January 2024. Broke through in the 2025-26 season with a 5th place in the slalom at Madonna di Campiglio (bib 33), missing his first World Cup podium by one tenth of a second, plus 8th-place finishes at Schladming and Kranjska Gora and 7th at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics. In May 2026, split from long-time supplier Fischer to join Marcel Hirscher's VAN DEER-Red Bull Sports team alongside fellow Norwegian Hans Grahl-Madsen, following the same path as Timon Haugan.
Competed in both giant slalom and slalom at the 2026 Winter Olympics (7th). FIS's official biography still lists 'Skis: Fischer' as of writing - this predates the May 2026 VAN DEER signing and is treated as stale rather than current. Lives and trains in Oslo alongside teammate Hans Grahl-Madsen.
Sponsors: VAN DEER-Red Bull Sports (skis, boots, since May 2026; previously Fischer) - confirmed via VAN DEER's own official team story (vandeer-redbull-sports.com) and a dedicated snowsportsnews.com feature on the signing
