About Dzenifera Germane
Latvian World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in slalom (also races giant slalom), born 24 March 2003 in Valmiera, near the Estonian border; her family relocated to Austria each winter from around age 8 so she could train and race, since Latvia has no mountains of its own. Broke her collarbone at 17 during her first season with an Italian private team, missing an earlier Olympic qualification chance, and has battled recurring knee injuries (cartilage and meniscus damage) that limited her to roughly one fully healthy season across five years. Joined the Apex 2100 International Ski Academy in Tignes, France under Sasha Rearick in a move that stabilized her career, and won gold in slalom at the 2024 Junior World Championships. Earned consistent World Cup slalom points during the 2025-26 season, capped by a personal-best 6th place at Are, and qualified for her Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026, where she skied out in the first run of the slalom.
FIS Code 555072. 2024 Junior World Champion, slalom. Career shaped by repeated injuries: a broken collarbone at 17 (which cost her a shot at an earlier Olympics), plus recurring knee cartilage/meniscus damage that limited her to roughly one fully healthy season across five years. Trains with the Apex 2100 International Ski Academy (Tignes, France) under Sasha Rearick. Personal-best World Cup result: 6th, slalom, Are (15 March 2026). Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026: DNF (skied out), first run of the slalom.
