About David Wise
American halfpipe skiing pioneer from Reno, Nevada. Won the first-ever Olympic men's freeski halfpipe gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Games, then defended his title at the 2018 PyeongChang Games - the second run of his career-best final attempt following two binding-malfunction crashes in his first two runs, scoring 97.20. A five-time X Games gold medalist (2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2023). Still competing as of the 2025-26 season at age 35; recorded the best Run 1 score of men's freeski halfpipe qualifying at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics (88.75) but did not advance to the final, where fellow American Alex Ferreira won gold.
Two-time Olympic halfpipe champion, in 2014 and 2018, and the first ever Olympic men's halfpipe gold medallist. Has seven World Cup wins and 19 World Cup podiums, the most of any halfpipe skier.
