About Atle Lie McGrath

American-Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in slalom and giant slalom, representing Norway and racing for Baerums SK. Born in Burlington, Vermont to former U.S. Ski Team racer Felix McGrath and Norwegian NCAA cross-country skier Selma Lie; moved to Norway at age two and grew up in Oslo. Made his World Cup debut in January 2019, won his first World Cup race (slalom, Flachau) in March 2022, and won the World Cup slalom discipline title (his first Crystal Globe) at the Lillehammer season finale in March 2026 after winning three slaloms that season. Took silver in slalom at the 2025 World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Held a half-second lead after the first run of the slalom at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics - his strongest event - but straddled an early gate in the second run and did not finish.

6 WC wins (all SL), 23 podiums (17 SL, 5 GS, 1 PG) through the 2025-26 season (Wikipedia). 2026 Olympics: DNF2 slalom (leading after run 1), 5th GS, 12th team combined; no Olympic medals across 2 appearances (2022, 2026). Father Felix McGrath raced for the U.S. Ski Team 1984-1990; younger brother Leo also skis.

Sponsors: Equipment: Head (skis, boots) - per FIS official athlete biography (manufacturer-updated field); no pole sponsor listed as of 2026.
