German ski jumper from Ruhpolding who represents his hometown club SC Ruhpolding and works for German customs (Zoll). Made his World Cup debut in 2012 in Lillehammer. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics won individual gold on the normal hill, individual silver on the large hill, and team silver - to go with a team gold from the 2014 Sochi Games. Also won mixed team gold at the 2017 and 2023 Nordic World Ski Championships, individual silver at both those editions, and ski flying individual silver at the 2024 Ski Flying World Championships. His best World Cup overall finish is 3rd, in 2023-24. Was left off Germany's team for the 2022 Beijing Olympics after testing positive for COVID-19 during selection and struggling for individual top-10 finishes following a torn ACL and broken collarbone since Pyeongchang - he holds no 2022 Olympic medal. At the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics he placed 17th individual normal hill, 15th individual large hill, and 4th in the Super Team large hill.

Career: 2018 Olympics - individual normal hill gold, individual large hill silver, team silver; 2014 Olympics team gold. 9 individual World Cup wins, 40 individual podiums; best WC overall finish 3rd (2023-24). Mixed team World Champion 2017 & 2023; individual World Champs silver 2017 & 2023; ski flying Worlds silver 2024. NOTE: contrary to some casual references, his 2018 individual gold was on the NORMAL hill (silver on large hill), and he holds no 2022 Olympic medal - he was left off Germany's Beijing team after a COVID-19 positive test during selection. 2026 Olympics (Milano Cortina): 17th individual normal hill; 15th individual large hill; 4th Super Team large hill.
