About AJ Ginnis
Retired Greek-American World Cup alpine ski racer specializing in slalom, born in Athens in 1994 to a Greek father and American mother and racing for SXO Arachovas. The most decorated winter athlete in Greek history, he delivered Greece's first-ever FIS World Cup alpine podium (2nd, slalom, Chamonix, 4 February 2024) and, two weeks later, Greece's first world championships medal in any Winter Olympic sport (silver, slalom, 2023 World Championships, Courchevel/Meribel - achieved before the Chamonix podium in career order, per FIS results). Battled a severe ankle injury requiring multiple surgeries in the latter part of his career, which prevented him from racing at peak level heading into the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Announced his retirement shortly before the Games and officially ended his career on 16 February 2026 with a ceremonial farewell run (bib 31, first run only) in the Olympic slalom at Bormio, receiving sustained applause at the finish.
